Whereas the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation has provided a generous scholarship grant for me to attend Seminary and/or college in preparation for appointive ministry and,
Whereas this scholarship may be renewed in perpetuity, as long as I am a student in seminary, in good standing with a cumulative GPA of a 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale (or comparable) and,
Whereas the need for well-trained, committed ministers is so great in the Oklahoma Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church,
Therefore,
I covenant with the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation to,
return upon graduation to serve under appointment of the Bishop and Cabinet of the Oklahoma Area of The United Methodist Church as an elder or local pastor of a church in the Oklahoma Annual Conference or the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference for two years for each academic year I receive the scholarship,
AND
that should I accept appointment in any other Conference of The United Methodist Church or in any other denomination prior to my completing my commitment to the Oklahoma Annual Conference, Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, or accept employment not under appointment, I will reimburse the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation a sum equal to the amount I received from the Foundation prorated to the years remaining under this covenant plus interest of 5% apr payable in monthly installments beginning immediately upon severance of this covenant and completing such payments in no more than five years from the date of such severance,
AND
that I shall NOT cause the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation to pay for a single class more than once. Should I withdraw from a class after the add/drop date or fail a class, and that class is a requirement of my degree, I will refund the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation the entire cost of the class that I do not receive credit for immediately, or enter into a repayment agreement for that class with the same terms as listed above,
AND
that I will NOT apply for, nor receive any student loans while receiving this scholarship without express written consent from the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation,
AND
to serve in a local church or other Christian ministry as a student pastor or in some other capacity during the term of this scholarship.
I have read, understand and agree to the provisions of this covenant.
